Nine puppies.
That was the count by the time the night ended — nine tiny lives that weren’t supposed to exist the way they did, in a closing emergency clinic, with a Saint Bernard who had already given more than her body was designed to hold.
Kobe had been in the house for all of it. And when the day finally came to meet them properly, every one of Daisy’s miracle puppies was waiting.
A Birth Nobody Planned For
Daisy arrived at Jeremy and Ella’s foster home because her previous owner could no longer afford the costs of her delivery. What Jeremy and Ella of The Golden Kobe Family didn’t know yet was the full picture.
This was Daisy’s third litter in three years.
Three pregnancies. No real recovery window between any of them. She arrived at the house enormous, quiet, and already days away from labor — sharing space with Kobe, a golden retriever, and Moki, a Doberman.
She got four days.
What the Vet Found
At the first checkup, the numbers told a harder story than expected.
Daisy was underweight. Her calcium levels were dangerously low — the cumulative toll of three pregnancies on a body that had never fully recovered between them. She needed months of rest before another birth. She wasn’t going to get months.
The vet had everything mapped out. Then the clinic’s hours ended. She was mid-labor.
Rushed to an Emergency Clinic
There was no waiting it out.
Jeremy and Ella moved Daisy — an enormous dog actively in labor — to an emergency veterinary clinic. Whatever was going to happen next, it wasn’t going to happen in a building that was about to close.
The night was just starting. And it was going to be long.
One. Then Another. Then Seven More.
Over the following hours, Daisy delivered nine puppies.
Not quickly. Not easily. Each one arrived separately, a small and exhausting victory on its own.

Nine puppies don’t sleep through the night. Jeremy, Ella, and their team started bottle-feeding every two hours — a schedule that doesn’t bend for exhaustion or morning or the general collapse that follows crisis.
The litter was divided three ways. Five puppies went to a foster family who already had another Saint Bernard, who accepted all five as her own. Daisy and a few others went to a second foster home. Jeremy and Ella hand-raised three themselves.
Worth understanding: Low calcium after whelping is a documented risk in large-breed dogs repeatedly bred without recovery. Each pregnancy depletes the body’s calcium reserves, and a dog in Daisy’s situation can face escalating complications — including eclampsia, which VCA Animal Hospitals classifies as a medical emergency.
Daisy’s ongoing vet support throughout wasn’t optional. It was what kept the worst outcome from happening.
The Day Kobe Finally Met Them
Kobe had watched the whole thing unfold. He was there when Daisy arrived, when the house shifted to emergency mode, when the two-hour feeding rotations began.
In the video captured by The Golden Kobe Family, he’s finally introduced to Daisy’s nine surviving puppies. They’re small. They’re curious. They’re alive in a way that required weeks of round-the-clock work to make possible.
For Jeremy and Ella, this was what all those sleepless nights looked like with a face — nine of them. For Kobe, these were the creatures whose presence had been reshaping the house since that first impossible night.

Every one of Daisy’s nine puppies was adopted. And Daisy herself found her home too.
The dog who arrived depleted and overbred, carrying her third litter without having recovered from the second, made it through. Her nine puppies made it with her.
And when Kobe got to meet them, they all had a future ahead.
She had already raised litters for people who didn’t keep her.
This time, the family who took her in — and the families who followed — chose her completely.
